ARCH 183: DESIGN STUDIO 1B
Studio 1B, instructed by Heather Flood, we began with series of exercises that aimed to develop the basic skill sets necessary for generating and representing architectural form. This semester was the first introduction to a site oriented project in which we were given a site located at the active Mariachi Plaza in Boil Heights Los Angeles. we began the design process by manipulating the bar shape form in relation to its site while using different types of manufacturing and material. My approach to the bar design focuses on the link between a steel chain and its inter connections, that connection is then experiment the link by replicating the connections with cardboard, foam and plastic. Given program perimeters of the program, phase 2developing a relationship between the library for and program was phase 2.
For the Final stage i made a design decision to stack the bars to enable the community multiple entrances and paths throw the building library program assigned.
